Ravenna cherishes the culture of its past while maintaining a remarkable vibrancy. Ravenna is also home to one of Italy’s historic Academies of Fine Arts, among the oldest, as it dates back to 1829.
What better place, then, to cultivate and put to use the essence of human creative genius than the city of Ravenna?
The Micro & Macro: Wearing Ravenna project comes to life in the workshops of the Ravenna Academy of Fine Arts, in the context of the second year of the two-year course in mosaic decoration with jewelry design course instructor Emanuela Bergonzoni.
The project consists of the creation of eight necklaces inspired by the perimeters of UNESCO monument floor plans.
These scenic, large-format breastplate jewelry pieces were made of transparent plastic material and decorated on the surface with micro mosaics inserted in metal bezels, handmade by each student.
Micro & Macro: Wearing Ravenna participated in the Roma Jewelry Week event, October 15 and 16, 2022 at Palazzo Ferrajoli, and will participate in the 7th Ravenna Biennial of Contemporary Mosaics, set up in the National Museum of Ravenna and the Arian Baptistery.
The opening will take place on Friday, October 28, at 5:30 p.m. at the Baptistery of the Arians (a UNESCO monument) and will continue at the National Museum at via San Vitale 17.
