Founded in 1764 by the painter Giambettino Cignaroli, the Accademia di Belle Arti di Verona is a public Institution, one of the five oldest academies in Italy and worldwide. Since January 1, 2023, the Academy has been a public state institution with its headquarter in Verità Montanari building. In addition other three building are used as workshop and technical laboratories.
The Academy offers bachelor and masters in visual arts, design, applied arts, and restoration, all accredited by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR). It is part of the Higher Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM) system, a section of the MUR.

The Academy is a dynamic and expanding institution committed to strategically planning its future to proactively respond to the continuous changes in socioeconomic paradigms and the evolving needs of the community. It aims to effectively support the new frameworks arising in education, research, the third mission, and internationalization.
Mission Statement:
With a strong focus on research and internationalization, the Academy pays particular attention to the development of all disciplines in its training programs.
Through an intensive schedule of initiatives, the Academy aims to integrate education, experimentation, and the production of contemporary creative languages. It collaborates with other institutions, organizations, and companies at regional, national, and international levels.
In this context, the Academy has set four primary objectives:
a) Organize, curate, and manage educational activities to enable students to achieve their academic degrees;
b) Contribute to the protection and enhancement of artistic, historical, and cultural heritage;
c) Collaborate with public institutions to promote and develop art and culture;
d) Promote and disseminate knowledge and the study of arts, along with the historical and artistic culture of the city of Verona and the Veneto region.
