Project Overview: This project aims to raise awareness about the human impact on the environment, which has become increasingly relevant due to climate change. The goal is to educate the public on sustainability by involving prominent figures. The collection is designed to represent the fragility of our ecosystem through garments with intentional imperfections. Research and Analysis: The fashion industry has a significant environmental impact, particularly in terms of water consumption, pollution, and the increase in textile waste. Research has identified industrialized countries as the main contributors to extreme weather events. Analyzing trends in sustainable design and issues related to the use of harmful chemicals was essential.
Concept Development: The concept of the project represents the fragility of the ecosystem through the design of the garments. Tight corsets symbolize ecological anxiety. The final piece represents the destabilization of the ecosystem, with colors and materials inspired by the Sicilian landscape affected by annual wildfires.
Phase 1: The first phase included design work with technical drawings, sketches, color and material selection, and planning for subsequent phases. Establishing design guidelines and planning the development of the collection was crucial.
Phase 2: The second phase involved prototyping and experimentation, with the creation of the first prototypes and a process of feedback and revision. The adjustments made to the prototypes refined the final design.
