Sinceramente
The new urban politics
Description
Every day initiatives arise that seek to understand new generational categories, but what does it mean to design the real? The intent is to donate a moment of wonder, a moment of understanding within the daily hustle and bustle we all experience. In a social period, such as the one we live in today, so many times simple concepts go forgotten; we are inclined to share messages of closeness to others and too often forget to take care of ourselves. In a world marked by capital and appearance, it seems impossible to find serenity in the simplest moments. Through an investigation of social reality and the effects of post-modernity and Covid19, the need to find a way to bring sincerity back into reality is highlighted. Through targeted and direct messages for younger people, who too often find themselves lost in a gaseous nebula that engulfs them and tries to mold them according to the standards imposed by society. The pillars on which modernity was based have failed, through a cross-cutting reflection, starting, from the thought of the philosopher Jean-François Lyotard, up to the present day, with the ideals of the sociologist Francesco Morace, the reality of the present is highlighted and the role of the designer is configured in designing a concrete response. The society of the present is configured in gassiness, a state of widespread uncertainty, where each individual is called to a personal effort to stand up and learn to fly, not to be clouded and obscured by the gas of the society that intends to homogenize everyone.Design is able to make physical such a broad issue as mental health. Design today means: designing artifacts and not just products, it also means designing visual, informational and communicative, virtual artifacts. So more than asking what design is, we need to ask where it is going, what its direction is, toward other domains that create moments of exchange and discussion. The research of the thesis project Sincerely starts from a careful and direct reflection towards the contemporary social and anthropological evolution flowing into an experimental study designed to test the coexistence of humans in a predefined context, urban, and their perception of it for an active exchange between the user and the proposed service, for a better perception of themselves. We are constantly in relationship with other people’s bodies, coexisting materials, forms, encumbrances, and all this may change, intensify or not, but it cannot fail, our body will always be in relationship with something.By designing services and products for the city and its citizens, it is possible to nurture the city’s opportunities for change, to return to the ability to imagine and design urban futures that are best suited and conform to those who live in them. The pandemic has taken a large chunk out of imagination while simultaneously accelerating innovation processes. Can design be a cure? Can it create new imaginations and direct toward change? We need new and good encounters, with others, and above all, with ourselves. It is necessary to start with bodies, and to think of actions that foster postive encounters. We are bodies interacting with other bodies, and public relations with the city are a way to relate to places. When talking about ourselves, it is always difficult to define what feels good for us and what is wrong for us; the goal is to educate about the importance of personal listening, not only for us but to improve intra-personal communication. All the reflection of the thesis research was based on a design activity of an experimental nature with an implication on the real world: designing by listening to real needs, concretizing a project that listens to people and tries to give support and backing.
